Exclusive: Dell Rejects U.S. Market, The Android Tablet In China

Dell to launch his long-awaited 10-inch tablet for the Chinese market first, which is based on the new belief that the U.S. market is not sufficiently able to launch an Android Dell manager told CNET today.

Streak Dell Pro 1910 (see specifications below) to launch in China this summer and in the U.S. market is likely that next year, John Thode, Dell's vice president and director of Business Mobility Dell told CNET. U.S. market is simply not available in a win-win for Dell 10-inch tablet, "he said.

"This is not an either-or for us. This is the choice of where is the best place to take our history and to avoid a series of inhibitors and barriers to success that we have seen in the U.S. market," said Thode . "Things like the confusion about exactly what Android brings to the table [and] an immature platform and roll out devices that are not quite ready yet."

Dell markets for small tablets, such as Dell Streak 7, and hybrid product, the Duo, Inspiron, the United States, but has yet to launch a tablet formulation, which competes with Apple iPad 9.7 inches.

"China is the largest in the category of emerging markets and the second fastest growing category of emerging markets. And China is our second largest market just after the United States," said Amit Midha, President Dell Greater China. "The Chinese market in the units can move to the United States in the years to come," he said, stressing the importance of the market from Dell.

There are about 10,000 stores selling Dell products in China, and by the end of this year, there will be 2,000 service centers where customers can get Dell, Midha said.
